The moon phases.
The moon moves through eight phases about every 29.5 days. Each one carries its own intention: a rhythm for setting goals, charging your crystals, and letting go.
New Moon
The moon sits between the earth and the sun, its lit face turned away, so the night sky goes dark. This is the very start of the lunar cycle, a clean slate.
Waxing Crescent
A slim crescent of light returns on the right side as the moon pulls away from the sun's glare. The cycle is quietly building.
First Quarter
The right half of the moon is lit in a bright half circle, about a week into the cycle. Energy and momentum are high.
Waxing Gibbous
More than half lit and still growing toward full. You are close now, so the work turns to fine tuning and patience.
Full Moon
The moon is fully lit and sits opposite the sun. This is the peak of the cycle, its brightest and most powerful point.
Waning Gibbous
Just past full, the light starts to fade from the right. Also called the Disseminating moon, it is a season of sharing.
Last Quarter
The left half of the moon is lit now, about three weeks into the cycle. Things are winding down and asking for release.
Waning Crescent
A last thin crescent lingers on the left before the moon goes dark. Also called the Balsamic moon, it invites deep rest.
